A Beautiful Bunch of Flowers on Rakhi

July 21, 2009

Raksha Bandhan is the perfect opportunity to tell your sister how much you care. It is a time when brothers run around to find the best Rakhi gift idea to make their sisters happy, instead finding ways to wind her up. With so many gift options in India these, there is lots to choose from. Gifts can range from the usual to the most unique ideas and a price range to match

But the most important thing is to convey to your sister how special nshe is. So while your choice of gift could be an expensive watch, a spa treatment or a piece of jewelry, it is a good idea to put across some words on how you truly feel for and appreciate your sister. A simple bunch of roses can say a lot more than the most expensive presents at times. To convey a range of emotions you could give her a combination of red, yellow and pink roses, as they experess so many meanings.
Everyone likes receiving flowers as gifts on any occasion. They are something that always makes people feel happy and help express feelings. They are a must or any occassion.

Although it is quite likely that your sister will not let you get away with just a bunch of roses, make sure you send them along with her rakhi gift in any case. As flowers make everything so much more special, give the gift of flowers and give it a touch of a range of emotions.

The Special Bond of Rakhi

July 21, 2009

A uniquely Indian tradition, Rakhsha Bandhan is a beautiful festival which celebrates the special bond between a brother and a sister. Another one of the numerous Indian celebrations of human relationships, Rakhi is celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Shravana. On this very special day, sisters tie a beautiful thread called a ‘rakhi’ on their brothers wrists. The brothers in turn promise to care for and protect their sisters for life.
But the more popular part of this festival would probably be the sweets and lavish food preparations. And more importantly fo the sisters is the popular tradition of brothers giving gifts to their sisters. A reason for the girls to look forward to rakhi more than the boys do.

The essence of Rakhi is a basic feeling of love and protection between brothers and sisters which has been seen through th ages. It has been a part of history in many ways. It is believed that when Alexander invaded India, his wife tied a Rakhi to Porus. Another story is that of Queen Karnavati of Chittor, who sent a Rakhi to the Mughal Emperor Humayun, to save her kingdom from the invasion of Bahadur Shah.
And in more recent history, to oppose the partition of Bengal, Rabindra Nath Tagore organized Raksha Bandhanto promote solidarity and peace between Hindus and Muslims.

Although people might focus on the materialistic side of this festival like the gifts and sweets, nobody can deny how important this tradition is to seal that eternal bond of love and protection forever. It is very important to any brother and sister, a truly touching festival of India.

More than a Rakhi for your Brother

July 17, 2009
Raksha Bandhan has always been about brothers giving gifts to their sister . But as with so many things down the ages the concept of Rakhi has changed for the better.  These days, thanks to female liberation, sisters are equally keen to give their brothers Rakhi gifts  as they do for their sisters. Given the significance and importance of the relationship it is no surprise that the girls want to show their appreciation and love for their brothers as much as they do.

Although it is not so easy to choose a gift for someone you share a love-hate relationship with there quite a few exciting gift options in India for this special occassion. While some would go for the traditional gifts like chocolates and clothers, there are some exciting options for the more adventurous types. One such gift experience is Paintballing. A fun activity not just for your brother alone, but yourself and other members of family and friends as well.
The high energy game is about two teams spraying each other with paint bullets. A fun and action filled sport, paintballing gives you the feeling of actual combat situations without the real fireworks. The opposing teams have to eliminate the other team’s players to win. What a wonderful opportunity to continue the everlasting fight with your brother, even on Rakhi. You just get to do it in a different and more enjoyable way. A great gift idea for this particular occasion, where you get to gift your brother something and then beat him at it.

A different and wonderful surprise, this is something he will really appreciate and enjoy. Give a special Rakhi gift this year to your dear brother and enjoy an action packed fun day out.
